ACTION star Jackie Chan has joined more than 500 actors, film-makers and supporters in a rally against a Hong Kong magazine which published a cover photograph of a naked actress.
The demonstration was protesting Eastweek magazine's publication of a photograph of actress Lau Ka-ling taken during her kidnapping in 1991.
Eastweek magazine was closed down by its owner, tycoon Albert Yeung, following the outcry over the publication of the picture in last Wednesday's edition.
Lau is shown clearly distressed and naked on the back seat of a car in the photograph with her face partially obscured but still identifiable. It is not known how the picture came into the possession of the magazine.
Lau attended the rally and told a cheering crowd she had a message both for those who loved and supported her and those who wanted to harm her: ``I am tougher than I thought I was."
Police have reopened the investigation into the original abduction of the actress which never led to any arrests.
